Vendor FAQ

Why do reviews matter?

Did you know that in the world of online, 90% of consumers read reviews before they reach out to a business and 88% of consumers trust a review just as much as a personal recommendation? In today's digital world, reviews are the #1 factor, leading to clients selecting a vendor. While most people ask for reviews, only 10% of consumers actually leave a review. With couples leaning on online research and new vendors popping up every day, getting reviews is crucial to growing your brand and landing new clients!

How do I get my customers to write a review?

  • Include a Desi Bride Review badge in your email signature, social media profiles, and website, and encourage clients to leave a review!
  • Make sure your Desi Bride profile link is in your email signature to make it easy for vendors to leave a review.
  • Follow up with your clients 7-14 days after the product or service is delivered and ask them to leave you a review, so they can help you as a small business owner get discovered and grow.
  • Prompt the client with an example review or even a “write us a review about how we made you feel beautiful during wedding week and made the experience unforgettable.”

Here is an in-depth article on how to get more 5-star reviews.

When is the best time to request reviews from my brides and families?

We suggest sending an email request 7 - 14 days after you provided goods or services to your client. If you provide services the day of, you’ll send after the wedding; if you provide goods or services prior to the wedding (such as invitations, dress fittings) you can send 7-14 after you’ve assisted the bride, groom, etc. This way your services are still very top of mind! As a note, it doesn’t hurt to follow up again about a month later and then as a final touch on the couple’s one-year anniversary.

How will I know when I have received a new review?

We will automatically send you an email when a review is posted. You can visit your Desi Bride profile page or Vendor Dashboard to read the entire review.

What do I do if I get a negative review of the product or service I provided?

If you take a step back, you’ll notice that all reviews are feedback and help in the long run. Whether positive, critical or somewhere in the middle, that feedback can help you learn more about your clients and make changes to your product or service. Every business has areas to improve, and no business can be perfect 100% of the time. What we’re trying to say is, the occasional critical review is actually okay. Pay attention to any larger themes you’re seeing in those reviews to identify opportunities to improve.

Will The Desi Bride remove false or defamatory reviews?

If you see a review that you believe violates The Desi Bride’s Content Guidelines, please report it by emailing us at hello@thedesibride.com. Include any information that can help us verify the information along with a screenshot of the review. The Desi Bride is a community-driven site, and removing photos, reviews, or other user content is not something we take lightly—we generally allow users to stand behind what they write. It's also important to keep in mind that The Desi Bride doesn't take sides in factual disputes.

After a review has been investigated by our moderators, The Desi Bride sends an email notification to the business owner or user who reported the content, notifying them of the results, which may take several days. We’ll typically also notify the reviewer if their content has been removed.

If you received a notification that the reported review was not removed by The Desi Bride moderators—but you have obtained a final order from a court of competent jurisdiction explaining why a  review is defamatory or fraudulent—please contact our support team at hello@thedesibride.com

Removal of reviews by The Desi Bride is at the sole discretion of The Desi Bride and our moderators unless removal is court-ordered.

Having a mix of both positive and critical reviews is a good thing as it helps with credibility. The mix of reviews shows a wide range of experiences and helps clients trust what they’re seeing. Research suggests that people trust reviews and star ratings more when they see a mix of critical and positive reviews.

Can I remove my profile page from The Desi Bride?

The Desi Bride publishes business information so that clients can share their experiences about local businesses, and because the information is typically a matter of public record and public concern. Therefore we don’t remove such information from the website.

While we understand that some business owners might prefer to keep a low profile, it’s important (and a legal right) for consumers to be able to find and share helpful information about great local businesses.

If you need to update or change the information on your business page, please login and edit your profile through the Vendor Dashboard or submit a detailed note to hello@thedesibride.com.

If your business is permanently or temporarily closed, please let us know by emailing us at hello@thedesibride.com.

How do I close my account on The Desi Bride as a business owner?

If you're a business owner and you no longer need access to a business page that you've logged into, you can choose to not log in going forward and “pause a business account”. However, keep in mind that pausing a business account does not remove the business page from The Desi Bride (we generally don’t remove business profile pages).

Who can post reviews on The Desi Bride?

Any member of TheDesiBride.com can review a business—a reviewer can be a bride, groom, guest, parent, or member of the wedding party. If your client isn’t already a member of The Desi Bride, they will need to fill out a quick registration in order to post. Wedding vendors can write a review for vendors that they used within their own wedding. However, we do not allow vendors to review wedding pro’s that they’ve worked with within a professional capacity. Any reviews left for businesses (not pertaining to their own wedding) will be removed.

Why do you require my clients to register before they can leave a review?

It only takes a minute to register on The Desi Bride. Most people understand the need to register on a website in which they contribute to the content through reviews - our registration process is very similar to many other sites. We also do this for your protection, if we need to investigate any reviews, we have the necessary contact information. We will not use their contact information to solicit to them.

Why did The Desi Bride reach out to my clients for a review?

The Desi Bride reaches out to former brides and grooms for anonymous reviews. Anonymous reviews provide credibility to your brand and help future clients determine whether or not you are a good fit for them. We do not reach out to the vendor in advance, and there is no action required on the vendor's behalf.

Why are reviews anonymous?

When someone leaves a review on our website, their name does not show up on the review. We want clients to be comfortable leaving authentic reviews about their experience. If you want to follow up on a specific review, we recommend replying to the review or asking the reviewer to privately message you if they are comfortable.

If reviews are anonymous, how do I know that they are not fraudulent?

Our team reads every review and if we feel that it might be fraudulent, we reach out to the reviewer for more information. If you feel that a review is fraudulent, please email us with detailed information at hello@thedesibride.com

How do I report a review that I feel violates the Terms of Use or Community Guidelines?

Report suspicious reviews by emailing us at hello@thedesibride.com. Please indicate the review title and what specifically in the review constitutes a violation. Our review management team will look at the review and reach back out to you on the next steps.

Do reviews ever get removed?

Sometimes. To keep the integrity of our user-generated content and the credibility of the reviews, we will not remove reviews on the basis that they are negative. Our review management team may remove a review if it violates our Terms of Use or Community Guidelines, including, without limitation, reviews that contain threats, hate speech, libel, harassment, etc., will be removed. If a reviewer makes a claim about a contractual or factual issue that can be proven false by documentation, The Desi Bride will contact the reviewer and give them the option to amend the review within 48 hours. If the reviewer does not comply, The Desi Bride will remove the entire review. Removal of a review by The Desi Bride is at our sole discretion unless by court order.
