About Dholi TK - Drum Entertainment - Top Indian Wedding DJ in Texas

My goal is to get you and your guests engaged, excited, and dancing! My delivery, from an assortment of dhols, drumset, and other percussion instruments to my colorful, traditional indian wardrobe, and my ability to amplify a mobile DJ's beats, has proven great success! I don't just play the dhol, I immerse myself in the music and your family and friends will surround me as they become intoxicated by the beat of my drum. I measure my success by the positive reaction of you and your guests My experience in dhol, ranges from playing at many special events: engagements, baaraats, weddings, receptions, garbas, sangeets, and birthday parties, as well as private, school, and corporate events. I've worked with many DJs, Dholis, and other vendors in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, and many other parts of the US.

Meet the Wedding Vendor

Tell us about what inspired you to play the Dhol and start a business behind it.

I have been playing drums since I was in middle school and I got interested to play an "Indian drum" after college. When I got my first dhol, which I still have, I played it for fun at my friends and family events. My friends and family started asking me to play in future events and I also volunteered to play at a Hindu temple. I started charging to play at events and eventually started a side gig that I did not really plan on doing. 

 

How long have you been a professional Dholi? 

Since 2005

 

How do you define your role at a wedding as the Dholi? 

My role is to bring added excitement. I bring a "bang" to any type of event!

 

Why do you recommend couples have a live Dholi vs a Spotify or Apple playlist?

I'll walk through and to every corner of the dance floor, making sure that the floor is rocking! I will also join and dance with the crowd as I play!

 

What sets you apart from your competition? Can you describe your style?

I am an American born Gujarati. I can play beats to match Hip-Hop, Dance, Arabic, Bollywood, Punjabi, and any other form of music with rhythmic and dancing beats.

 

Which wedding events do you recommend incorporating a Dholi at?

All of them! But my favorite is the Sangeet/Garba/Mendhi night before the wedding!

 

How do you typically work with the DJ?

I can improvise to any type of music, so there is typically not much of prior coordination needed. When a client needs a specific time for the dholi to play during an event, I will be by the DJ to get the cue of when to play for a specific song. If possible, I will sometimes ask to hear the song in private prior to actual performance to be familiar with it.

 

How far in advance do couples need to book you for their wedding?

As far as possible if you know you want to secure me for a specific date and time. The average is about 6 months. My farthest booking was recently done 15 months in advance!

Amazing Dhol Player!

Tarak was an outstanding dhol player! He helped set up a surprise with my family for my wife and I that we loved so much. He was very energetic during the dance floor and worked very well with our DJ. Would recommend to anyone!

Dhol at Dhoti Ceremony

We had the pleasure of having Tarak Shah (DholiTK) play the Dhol at my son's Dhoti ceremony. He truly brought the event to life with his incredible talent and energy. From the moment he started playing, the atmosphere was electric and he had everyone on their feet, dancing and celebrating. He added a vibrant and authentic touch to our special day. Wow!

Dholi TK was awesome and he made the Haldi and Bharath events exciting and wonderful. he did bring lot of bang, excitement , fun to the events and made them memorable. Wonderful experience delivered!

We hired TK to play the dhol at the Baarat and the Reception for our wedding this month. He did an exceptional job of keeping the energy levels up and working with different DJs to bring the perfect vibe for each event. TK was on time, flexible with our schedule, and very responsive with our queries and requests. He delivered a wonderful experience for our guests!

Best Dhol entertainment provider ever

I have the opportunity to have Dholi TK at two of my sister's weddings and sangeet, and it was honestly one of the best decisions we have made. Tarak was very easy to work with and was extremely open about the different things we wanted for the event. Everyone at the event just had a blast while he was playing the Dhol. Dholi TK is so easy and fun to work with!

Tarak, AKA Dholi TK was incredible to work with! I started coordinating with him about 6 weeks before my sister's wedding. He was easy to communicate with over whatsapp and email and immediately send a contract. He showed up early to our sangeet and baraat and made sure to keep the guests entertained the entire time! We were prepared with any special requests, so he went with the flow and played upbeat dholi music. Even with the July sizzling summer, Tarak kept his spirits up and kept the beat going. On top of everything, he's super easy and friendly to work with. Highly recommend Dholi for Indian weddings and other events! Thank you Dholi TK!
